As the presence of food or liquid in the stomach at the time of surgery is very dangerous, it is extremely important for your child to fast before surgery.
Please refer to the specific fasting instructions available at our office or call with any questions.
Use only Acetaminophen products (Tylenol) if needed for pain relief up to 1 week before surgery. Ibuprofen products (Motrin, Advil) and aspirin can cause bleeding problems at the time of surgery.
If your child becomes ill with a cold, ear infection, diarrhea, etc., please call the office. If your child is scheduled for a hernia or testicle surgery and develops a diaper rash, please call the office. If your child is exposed to chicken pox or measles, please call the office. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (303) 839-6001.
The primary responsibility for your child's insurance is yours. Our office will contact your insurance company to obtain pre-authorization for your child's surgery. When pre-authorization is obtained it is never a guarantee of payment. Please be aware of your policy's specific requirements.
Please note: Depending on the complexity of your child's surgery, there may be a surgical assistant used.
